Dr. Walker J. Roan
Attending the University of Kentucky for nearly 3.5 years, Dr. Roan was was accepted to and began veterinary school at the Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine without completing her undergraduate degree. After graduating in 2004, Dr. Roan completed a 1-year rotating internship at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute. She stayed on at Hagyard’s as an associate veterinarian for an additional 4 years before becoming the partnering owner of a mixed animal practice in Bourbon County, KY. Dr. Roan eventually made the decision to part ways with her mixed animal practice and joined our team as an emergency veterinarian in fall of 2019. Her clinical interests include trauma and soft tissue surgery and practicing medicine with an emphasis on supporting the human-animal bond in the recovery of sick animals.
In her spare time, Dr. Roan enjoys riding her horses, cooking, hosting friends and family, and spending time with her children. She owns 5 horses, 5 ponies, 3 dogs, 3 cats, 7 chickens, 2 parakeets, 2 Gouldian finches, and a couple Beta fish at her personal farm.
